Fishworks on Urbanspoon

I visited Richmond Fishworks many times over the past 6-7 years. It used to be good but from what i heard about 4 years ago the owner changed and it all went downhill.
This review is from 2012,  i went for a dinner with my other half and i don’t think i will be coming back. Service really put me off!
First we waited for a long time for someone to take our drinks order, eventually we got served. It took another 15 minutes for them to take our food order! Our waiter was chatting to another waiter completely ignoring us while trying to get his attention!
Starters: my partner ordered scallops and i went for mussels as they did not have any oysters left, this is not the first time it happened…. It arrived after 10 minutes, brought to the table by someone from the kitchen who just asked who is having what , placed the plates on the table and left without a word.
Both me and my partner were shocked to see 3 tiny scallops priced at £8… My mussels arrived in a huge pot , which made it hard to use knife and fork, they expected me to use fingers as they brought little dish with warm water and lemon… Scallops and mussels were fresh and tasty but do not spend your money on 3 tiny scallops! Total rip off.
Mains: My partner ordered fresh gurnard from their counter, and requested it to be filleted and pin-boned and lightly grilled. I opted for Devon ray with capers. Mains arrived on time. Gurnard was very tasty and grilled perfectly, but they failed to pin-bone it.
Devon Ray was overcooked, however it was fresh and tasty but wish they cooked it properly. Butter sauce must have burnt little bit as it was too dark and tasted slightly bitter. But i did enjoy the fish. We also ordered spinach and new potatoes as side dishes, portions were quite large so one can be shared between two people. Again, the mains were served by the same person from the kitchen.
Desserts were OK, but nothing special. Chocolate fondant slightly on a bitter side.
Our waiter failed to fill empty glasses, the empty Prosecco bottle stayed on the table until the very end of our evening. They did not bother to come and clear the table.
Fresh fish, but not worth the money unless you really want . And they should definitely improve their service.
